South Side in Focus aims to amplify the voices of South Side residents by fostering a space for individuals and communities to create, share, and engage with artistic narratives in order to promote racial, spatial, and social justice.

Founded in the spring of 2013 as a project through the University of Chicago’s Uncommon Fund grant, South Side in Focus has completed four successful projects and hosted exhibits attended by roughly 200-400 people. In the summer of 2015, we formed a 501(c)3 non-profit organization to expand our work and continue to support artists, small businesses, and individuals across the South Side of Chicago through engaging community art projects.
